Jonathan was thrilled to contribute some additional music to this insightful documentary film, alongside accomplished composer Gary Lionelli.

Now airing on PBS as part of their esteemed American Experience series.

Settling the Score

Join Jon and Andy as they explore the world of film music, one score at a time. Each episode is an in-depth discussion of a classic film score: what makes it tick, how it serves the movie, and whether it’s, you know, any good. It’s a freewheeling, opinionated conversation with an analytical bent, richly illustrated with musical examples. No expertise required.

The series begins by tackling “100 Years of Film Scores,” the AFI’s list of (purportedly) the 25 greatest scores in American cinema history.

A Night Called Tomorrow

A Night Called Tomorrow is a darkly comedic 10-episode noir that goes down the rabbit hole of postwar Hollywood, where creeping paranoia and aggressive normalness battle for supremacy. It's released as a podcast on the Howl network, and features performances from Andy Richter, Lauren Lapkus, Baron Vaughn, Josh Fadem, Betsy Sodaro, Molly Quinn and Weird Al Yankovic.

Jonathan worked closely with writer/producer/star James Urbaniak to craft a sumptuous cinematic score in the noir tradition, as well as all of the show's varied source music material.

Con Man

Alan Tudyk's series Con Man is a hilarious behind-the-scenes take on show biz, comic book conventions, and fandom, and features a galaxy of science fiction stars.

Jonathan wrote all the music for Season Two, including a parody musical adaptation of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men called I'm With Stupid, with Lou Ferrigno's musical debut in the title role.

Kiss Me, Kill Me

Scoring this hard-boiled film noir thriller, updated with a modern take, was an exhilarating treat for Jonathan.

The film, directed by Casper Andreas and starring Van Hansis and Gale Harold, will be out soon - stay tuned!

Call Me Lucky

Comedian Bobcat Goldthwait's touching feature documentary portrait of comedic mentor and activist Barry Crimmins won rave reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Variety said it "packs an unexpected wallop," and HitFix called it "painfully beautiful" and "one of the most impressive 'sad clown' movies ever made."

Jonathan was honored to get to contribute some Additional Music to the picture.

Clown Service

Celebrated comedian Tig Notaro wrote and stars in this hilarious short film, coming out soon. Jonathan had a great time writing its score.

Happy Baby

Jonathan is very excited to be working on the second feature film of writer/director Stephen Elliot (About Cherry, 2012).

The film stars Bill Heck, Monica Raymund, James Urbaniak and Alex Karpovsky. It's based on Elliot's novel of the same name, about which Dave Eggers said:

"It's written with such unvarnished, raw power, such unparalleled honesty, that it begins to feel like these are your own memories, that this was your own life. I'm happy that Stephen's making a movie out of it."

More information coming soon!
